Background of the Study
Transparency in financial reporting and business operations is crucial for building investor confidence. For SMEs in Nigeria, maintaining transparency can lead to greater access to capital, improved investor relations, and increased market competitiveness. In Enugu, SMEs operate in a competitive market where investor confidence plays a significant role in their ability to secure funding and grow (Nwafor & Onu, 2024).
Despite the recognized benefits of transparency, many SMEs in Enugu struggle with inadequate financial reporting, inconsistent disclosures, and a lack of clear business practices. This study aims to examine the role of transparency in promoting investor confidence and explore how SMEs can enhance their transparency to attract and retain investors.
